Shannaghe --Sha-nah-gkee--is the term for the truth-tellers of ancient Ireland, the storytellers, the historians. 

 

Our primary program is a residency-- a solo experience--where  writers, environmentalists, and other creative thinkers come to live and work on projects that elucidate the nature of being human on this planet. In particular, we're interested in work that draws on the powers of introspection,  storytelling, and research; questions injustice; and/or maybe even delights. We also provide  temporary housing and/or meeting space for organizations, practitioners, and others  engaged in community projects.

And we host the Fellowship in Care, which provides residency + stipend to writers focusing on care in any of its expressions, in the classroom, clinic, courtroom, family, friendship, community. Our 2025 judge: Michele Morano. Our 2025 fellow: Jill Zimon.
